  • Starting in the Construction Inspection field led to a stint doing volunteer work in a developing country and eventually to over 25 years of successful Real Estate sales here in Southern Ontario.

  • I specialize in residential, but also sell farms and some commercial in the Burlington/Waterdown/Flamboro and Grimsby/Beamsville/Vineland areas.

Special Interests/Hobbies

  • An annual highlight is a trip to a 3rd world country, the Dominican Republic. I am part of a team which builds schools, churches and clinics, for needy folk who would otherwise do without.
  • Free time is devoted to Church activities, and involvement with my three teens and lovely wife. They keep me active and challenged!
  • Golf, boating and winter skiing are also passions when time permits.

  • Born in the Netherlands, John Meerveld sailed to Burlington with his family when he was just a toddler. His mother and father, in search of a better life for themselves and their children, chose to settle in the Niagara Region. As immigrant parents, they instilled in their children at an early age the values of hard work, honesty, respect and loyalty.

    John attended Mohawk College and upon graduation, began a career as a Construction Inspector. He worked for the Ministry of Transportation and later the City of Burlington doing inspection in the field and lab testing for quality control. He and his wife, early in their marriage, spent two memorable years in Papua New Guinea as volunteers with Wycliffe Bible Translators. John trained national people in home building and mechanics while his wife taught in the high school, educating children of translators and development workers. Upon returning to Ontario, John followed in his father-in-law’s footsteps and became a licensed Realtor in 1980.

    He first joined Re/Max He first joined Re/Max Grimsby, and quickly became one of the Company's top salespeople. In his first year, John reached Re/Max's 100% Club status, which recognizes an annual sales volume in excess of Four Million Dollars. For a few years, John branched out to another Real Estate Company and maintained his status of top producer. In 2001, John rejoined Re/Max Garden City Burlington and his successes have continued and grown.

    Last year, John was inducted into the Re/Max International Hall of Fame, with a Forty Million Dollar entry threshold.

    John takes great pride in putting his client’s needs first, making their satisfaction his top priority. Client service is not some vague concept to him. This is reflected in the conscientious open communication he maintains with his clients, pre and post-closing. Every year for the past decade, he has been privileged to help build schools for less fortunate youth in the Dominican Republic. Through an organization called "Faithworks", John has led a team of volunteers for ten days in January, putting construction ability and love for the people there to work. He enjoys visiting each year the project worked on the previous year and is humbled by the impact the schools are making on young lives.

    John and his wife have raised a family of three, the youngest of whom is still a teenager while the oldest son and daughter are completing university educations. They are a source of great joy and pride.
